I wrote this piece in response to the horrific massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando Florida on June 12, 2016. As a queer person, it was especially jarring. The violence of the past year has demonstrated that nightclubs, soccer stadiums, beaches, concert halls, cafes, (etc etc etc) are battlegrounds. We must never forget that the most radical counterattack is to keep dancing, living, loving, singing, and being more passionately than ever.
